Turbo V6 Exhaust Manifolds

Note that prior to 1983's tubular headers, the Turbo V6 shared the driver's side exhaust manifold with the NA engines. 1981/82 has an adapter in place the vacuum EFE valve.

1978 PASSENGER SIDE CAST IRON EXHAUST MANIFOLD - Casting Number 1256846. Note the shape of the Exhaust ports. These are for pre-"free-breathing" heads which came out in 1979. These should be avoided if you have 1979 and later heads.

  3. 1979 Cast Iron Manifold, Casting #1261620 (Note: no provision for oxygen sensor.  1980 casting 25502804 similar, but has oxygen sensor boss)

It appears that 79/80 and the 83/85 manifolds may actually use the same crossover. Up-pipes do interchange from 1979-83. 1983/85 Manifolds are very prone to cracking. It might be possible the use the durable cast 79/80 pieces without sacrificing flow. On the driver's side, the EFE valve would need to used as an adapter (remove the butterfly) and a oxygen sensor hole/bung would need to be installed, (probably easier in the up-pipe).  I have succesfully installed a '79/80 driver's side manifold on my '83 TR.  The only change necessary was the dipstick, tube and some longer bolts on the lower positions.
